John played junior football in Scotland before immigrating to Australia. Since then he has played for Melita Eagles in State League before retiring as a player to take up a coaching career. His coaching career included a term as the Head of Youth Development/Academy Manager with Parramatta Power, Football Operations Manager, Coach and Chief Scout for Manchester United while at Parramatta Eagles Soccer Academy, Soccer Director for sports camps in the USA and most recently Program Head for Junior Development with the Australian Elite Soccer Football Academy. John joined SUSFC in late 2008 as the full time Director of Football
